SMART to continue free rides for youths, seniors

“We’ve been doing free fares for youths and seniors for two years already and it’s been wildly successful,” [Lucan} said. “This is just a continuation.”
Since the free fare program launched in April 2024, the number of youth and senior riders has ballooned 195%. Youths and seniors now make up about 43% of all riders, up from 23.5% before the program started.
